CREATING ZEBA

2007 bought the happy arrival of my daughter however it was also the year I was left with Melasma, often referred to as “Mask of pregnancy”. Melasma causes dark splotchy spots to appear on your face. These spots are a result of increased pigmentation.  Sometimes the Melasma will go away by itself but for me that was not the case, so I searched for products on the market to treat my condition.

My background in the beauty/pharmaceutical industry allowed me the opportunity to access a very wide range of products.

I tried products from across the board, and I didn’t discriminate based on brand name.  I experimented with budget products from supermarket, pharmacy brands, high end cosmetic brands, along with products recommended to me by Medi Spas and Dermatologists.

By 2009 after having limited success finding a solution to my problem, I decided to do my own research.  I stumbled across Environmental Working Group (EWG) and began to follow them and update my knowledge on ingredients in products.  The more I learnt, the more I was horrified to find that products we use on a daily basis, products we use on our children, often contain high levels of dangerous chemical ingredients.

Over the next few years I began reading labels on every product. I was disappointed to see that many popular products contain fillers or dangerous chemicals and had very few active ingredients or none at all.

At that point I knew I wanted to create my own product, with a focus on high quality, effective ingredients that are free of toxins.  It made sense to me that a combination of active ingredients providing a multitude of benefits would be the perfect formulation.

Two key ingredients in Zeba are Myrrh and Frankincense Essential Oils. They are the most incredible, yet underutilised ingredients in the skincare industry; even though their efficacy dates back to ancient times.

Sweet Almond Oil

Sweet Almond Oil contains Vitamin E, which is one of the most potent antioxidants known.  It can help repair some of the damage done to the collagen layer.  The oil is especially rich in proteins and can provide the amino acids required for the formation of collagen.

Almond Oil has the ability to plump and firm skin, repair damaged cells and prevents dehydration by reducing moisture loss from the skin.

Wheat Germ Oil

Wheat Germ Oil is readily absorbed by your skin and delivers a healthy infusion of Vitamin A, B, D, antioxidants and fatty acids.

Wheat Germ Oil will not only moisturises but also helps prevent scarring. In particular Wheat Germ Oil is a rich source of Vitamin E which helps reduce skin damage, fights free radicals, supports healthy collagen formation and maintains even skin tone.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip Oil contains a source of essential fatty acids, omega 3,6,9 and is a natural source of Vitamin C.

Rosehip Oil helps repair and regenerate damaged skin tissue. It helps brighten the skin and helps improve the appearance of pigmentation and restore the skins tone.

Carrot Infused Water

Carrot Infused Water contains beta carotene which is the precursor for the Vitamin A.  Vitamin A is essential for the skin and promotes healthy tissue formation as well as being antioxidant which means it protects the skin.

Elemi Essential Oil

Elemi Essential Oil is used in many high end products.  It has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties which make it excellent for improving skin health.  It also helps the skin return to optimum condition, tightens and firms the skin.

What is special about Myrrh & Frankincense?

For thousands of years, Myrrh oil has been used a variety of ways; many of which are still applicable today. Myrrh was used by ancient civilizations because of its numerous benefits and, it was valued higher than gold.

For centuries, it’s been used in traditional Chinese medicine for its healing properties.

Ancient Egyptians also prized myrrh for its beauty benefits. Lovers of all things beauty, they used it in skincare to reverse signs of aging and maintain healthy skin.
